House Dimensions is the show which takes you to the outer fringes of house music via rare groove and funk, with liberal helpings of vaporwave and chillhop.
Mike and Phil have known each other since schools days, back in the days before punk was invented and when prog rock and jazz funk-fusion were cutting edge. Once they extolled the virtues of Yes and Soft Machine. Now they are united by their love of deep underground house, future funk, vaporwave and anything cool and edgy from the outer limits of dance music. Each week they work hard to bring you sounds that will take you to new dimensions of house. Listen out for special features such as, “Chill with Phil”, “Mike’s funky bit”, and “the roots of house”.
Mike and Phil got involved with Sunny Govan when they met the team at a fundraiser. They were delighted to be asked to put a show together for Sunny G. They know it is a real privilege to be able to share the music they love with listeners.
Mike is the sort of guy who always wants to change the music at parties. He thinks he knows how to get a party going. When people let him, Mike DJs for friends, family and fundraising across the Southside. Mike also plays keyboard with covers band The Highwaisters and produces his own house and dub music under the name of HiWstre. Occasionally, Phil lets him play one of his creations on the airwaves.
Phil has been a music listener over several decades starting with jazz, free jazz and funk sounds. Reggae has been the core of his listening for over three decades. This musical background has a big influence on the choice of sounds for the show.
