I’ve been at Sunny G for nearly 2 years now. I remember one night at 2am I was in my dad’s car and there was nothing really appealing on the other stations, but then I tuned into Sunny G and it was playing this song I had never heard before and then I got in touch to volunteer. I came here because I really like music and I wanted to help out in the community. I feel like this is a way to give back in a way were I can utilise my talents and at the same time learn new skills & more about the community around me. The folk at the station are lovely, very welcoming. The way to describe Sunny G is like a home from home, you see a different family when you come here.
Radio presenting is a way to help me and my talking skills. I also wanted to make a difference in the community and I wanted to give back so I thought Sunny G was the way to do that. Through volunteering I have achieved a Community Achievement Award and also took part in Activate which is a community development course.
My show is a mix of nostalgia and also incorporates some local music that fits. I want people to listen to a song and be taken back to a good place. Music heals and it sets your mood, it’s a very powerful thing.
Technology is a big passion of mine and I love to take it apart and rebuild it, look at old technology. I also like photography – specifically macrophotography. Spending time with my family, I’m close with my brother. Lazy days are also great too!
Song Recommendation: George Michael – Careless Whisper
